The foundation of the Faculty of Law within Hacettepe University was proposed to the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education of Turkey with the decision of the Senate of Hacettepe University dated 01.05.2002, at the 7th session, numbered 2002-53 and the proposal was accepted by the decision of the Presidency of the Council of Higher Education, dated 19.07.2002, numbered 2002.7.70 and presented to the Ministry.

Upon the communication of the Ministry of National Education, dated 06.07.2005, numbered 15524 and in accordance with additional article 30 of the Law No.2890, dated 28.03.1983, the establishment of Faculty of Law within Hacettepe University has been decided by the Council of Ministers on 14.07.2005 and published in the Official Gazette dated 05.08.2005, numbered 25897.
