11. The opening lecture of our Faculty for the 2024-2025 Academic Year was held.

Under the leadership of the Department of Commercial Law of Hacettepe University Faculty of Law, and with the contributions of the 4th and 11th Civil Chambers of the Court of Cassation, the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency, and the Insurance Association of Türkiye, the Fourth Insurance and Company Law Symposium was held on 11-12 October 2024. Numerous members of the Court of Cassation, judges, academics, insurance arbitrators, and lawyers attended the symposium. Opening addresses were delivered by Adem Albayrak, First Deputy President of the Court of Cassation and President of the General Assembly of Civil Chambers; Davut Menteş, President of the Insurance and Private Pension Regulation and Supervision Agency; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, Rector of Hacettepe University; and Prof. Dr. Rauf Karasu, Dean of the Faculty of Law. Numerous members of the Court of Cassation, academics, and insurance arbitrators presented papers on current issues. 13. The Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Legal Studies was organised by our Faculty on 14-15 December 2024. Opening addresses were delivered by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cahit Güran, Rector of Hacettepe University; Prof. Dr. Beşir Fatih Doğan, Dean of the Faculty of Law; and Prof. Dr. Ali Murat Özdemir, Head of the Department of Public Law at Hacettepe University. 4. Our University was represented in the national rounds of the International Philip C. Jessup Moot Court Competition, an English-language simulation of proceedings before the International Court of Justice, held at Yeditepe University on 23-24 February 2019. Our Faculty participated in the competition for the first time that year, and our team finished third in the overall ranking. We thank our team members Sare Karacan, Zeynep İrem Doğan, Yavuz Işık Özduman, İrem Karabulut, and Burak Salih Murat; the team coach, Seval Arzu İz, a part-time instructor at Middle East Technical University; and the team adviser, Assoc. 5. The teams of our Faculty achieved significant success in the competitions held as part of Hacettepe University’s 39th Sports Festival. In the competitions held at the Beytepe and Sıhhiye campuses from 11 March to 10 May 2019, our Faculty’s football team became university champion. In table tennis, our women’s team placed first and our men’s team placed third; in badminton, our men’s team placed second. In athletics, Zeynep İLGİNOĞLU became university champion in the women’s 100 metres, Beyza SAMUT became university champion in the women’s 400 and 800 metres, and Enes KÖKÇÜ placed third in the university in the men’s 400 metres. Our students received their trophies and medals at the closing ceremony held at the Sıhhiye Campus, attended by our Rector, Prof. Dr. A. Haluk ÖZEN. 1. The work undertaken under the cooperation protocol signed between the Constitutional Court and Hacettepe University (Faculty of Law) to prepare the dataset forming the infrastructure of the Constitutional Court’s Judgments Database was successfully completed.

2. Our Dean, Prof. Dr. Çetin ARSLAN, will participate as a session chair in the 13th International Criminal Law Symposium, organised by the Presidency of the Court of Cassation and Istanbul University Faculty of Law, to be held from 31 May to 2 June 2018, where the “Distinction Between Dolus Eventualis and Conscious Negligence and Cases of Mistake in Turkish Criminal Law and Comparative Law” will be discussed.
